We just love waffles!
The opportunity to open a unique restaurant concept on Main Street Mandan has been a dream of ours for a long time, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring you Copper Dog!
Our waffles are one-of-a-kind and topped with a custom blend of many local ingredients. Our high-quality coffees are locally sourced and roasted in Bismarck and served to our customers at reasonable prices. We provide a community atmosphere and a location where anyone can come and enjoy quiet time on their own or socialize with family and friends.
We are very excited to call Main Street Mandan our home. Our building offers us a great opportunity to be a part of the continued revitalization of downtown Mandan. Located in the city’s central business district, 218 West Main St. sits near the depot and newly renovated Dykshorn Park, city hall, the county courthouse, unique retail and restaurants, and near public gathering areas for community festivals and events.
A very important part of our business is community involvement. We strive to be a major part of the community and regularly hold fundraising events in our store for organizations in and around Mandan as well as our local athletic programs.
Our family is Mandan. We were raised here, this is our home, and these are our people. Our business serves families like ours and we know how important it is to serve those families with care and compassion.

To take on this adventure with anyone else besides our closest family members would be difficult and challenging. We have been supported and blessed to be surrounded by family who are both committed to helping us follow our dreams as well as supporting when we need a hand.

Brittany and Mike Kennedy
The wife and husband team of Brittany and Mike currently reside in Mandan, ND. Brittany, a Mandan native, brings more than 20 years of sales experience in a variety of industries including retail and professional sports. Mike has a diverse background in owning and operating small businesses including a marketing agency, graphic design studio, real estate business, and residential property management. Mike also has more than 20 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, and marketing.
Cathy and Randy Ehlis
Residents of Mandan their entire lives, the wife and husband team of Cathy and Randy bring a deep knowledge of local customs to our business. For 25 years they ran their own small business, a successful trucking company based out of Mandan. 
They have a strong knowledge, passion and community involvement in the Bismarck-Mandan area and are excited to be a part of the small business community on Main Street.
What's in a name?
The story behind Copper Dog
A name with multiple meanings, Copper Dog was originally a nickname of our family dog Copper (left). We've enjoyed having multiple yellow labs in our family who have a dark copper coat including Knox (right) and Cash.

Not to mention, copper is the precise color of a perfectly crisped waffle.
